Gentc硫酸鹽， 一種氨基糖苷類抗生素, 是80 S ribosomes延伸的抑制劑，在原核和真核細胞中均能通過抑制延伸步驟來阻斷多肽合成。 只限于研究實驗用途。
靠干擾核糖體功能阻斷多肽合成。不是常用的標準抗生素，常用于選擇新霉素抗藥基因轉(zhuǎn)染的原核和真核細胞。 在基因轉(zhuǎn)移、基因敲除、抗性篩選以及轉(zhuǎn)基因動物等方面得以廣泛應用。
